A second series of Healthier Together, presented by the WHO Foundation, and produced for them by BBC StoryWorks launches this week.
The 19 short films highlight a range of uplifting initiatives, united by a common goal of working together to improve health equity. Each film focuses on practical efforts to address global health challenges and the impact these efforts are having on individuals and communities. The stories look at solutions, from tackling menopause taboos, and living fearlessly with epilepsy to innovations in eye surgery. They illustrate how concrete actions are helping bring health for all closer to reality.
While some challenges featured in the series are well-known, others are under-reported, such as the global gaps in access to dermatological care for skin conditions. In a film developed for L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty (LDB), we meet the people championing better care for skin conditions such as eczema and hyperpigmentation and see how treatment can improve the physical and mental health of those affected. The film shines a light on the need for improved surveillance and treatment of skin health conditions, a goal the L’Oréal Groupe is helping to advance through its Act for Dermatology program and its support to the WHO Foundation for WHO’s global skin health programs.
“Every one of these films introduces us to incredible people and organizations solving problems and widening access to health solutions,” said WHO Foundation CEO Anil Soni. “They provide a timely insight into the range of current collaborations in global health and the role played by philanthropy and business in achieving health for all.”
