Artificial Intelligence is transforming how the world responds to health emergencies, ushering in new technologies that strengthen global health security. As climate-driven crises intensify, AI is improving weather forecasting and climate modeling, yet the public health implications of these events are often overlooked. Failing to link climate predictions with health risks is a missed opportunity, measured in lives not saved.

This UNGA panel, co-hosted by the WHO Foundation and its Health Emergencies Alliance members, showcased real-world applications of AI and explored opportunities for faster, smarter, and more equitable emergency preparedness and response in regions most affected by climate change. Bringing together leaders from the technology, humanitarian, and global health sectors, the discussion examined how collaboration can unlock AI’s full potential to strengthen health security worldwide, by better anticipating the adverse effects of climate change on health.
